“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
Our Approach to healing
With a polyvagal-informed approach, therapy is guided by an understanding of how trauma affects both body and brain. Sessions are rooted in evidence-based practices, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Attachment theory
Brief Solution Focused Therapy
Somatic Experiencing
Experiential Therapy
Clients are met exactly where they are- whether feeling stuck, emotionally numb, or constantly on edge - and supported in making sense of those responses with compassion.
Healing is approached in a way that feels human, not clinical. Personal interests such as music, movement, creativity, or daily routines are often woven into the process, helping to build sustainable tools for resilience.
What to expect from the process:
Therapy at Uprooted Healing will feel grounded and empowering- never rushed. I won’t ask you to relive trauma before you're ready. Instead, we’ll focus on:
Creating safety in your body
Developing skills to process emotions
Ditching maladaptive coping skills
learning to cope appropriately
identifying the triggers of unwanted emotional behaviors
Implementing change to prevent future unwelcome spirals
Exploring the past gently and at your own pace
Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means growing strong roots from pain, so that you are no longer defined by it.
